Funerals

At a Funeral we give thanks for the life of the dearly departed, we pray for their eternal rest in Christ, and we seek the comfort and consolation that only God’s peace can bring.

The Funeral Service at St James’s takes two forms: a Requiem Mass in which the soul of your loved one is prayed for through the offering of the Holy Eucharist. For a baptized and confirmed Christian this is the fullest and most appropriate form of funeral.

Then there is the traditional Funeral Service which comprises of readings and prayers led by the Priest. Please don’t hesitate to contact the clergy to discuss any of these things.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy Catholic Church,

the Communion of Saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

and the resurrection to life everlasting.
